CHANGE YOUR PIN AFTER YOU’VE ACTIVATED YOUR CARD.

After you’ve activated your card, you can change your PIN whenever you’d like.

Here’s how to change your PIN:

  1. Call 1-800-481-3239 – we’re available 24/7.
  2. Select or say More Options, then PIN Options, then Change PIN.
  3. Enter your current PIN.
  4. Enter the new PIN you’d like to use.
  5. Confirm the new PIN by entering it again.
  6. Your PIN is now updated in the system.

Note: On your next chip transaction after changing your PIN, you’ll have to use your old PIN to approve the transaction one final time. After that, your new PIN is ready to use.

  

5 ways to keep your PIN safe.

  1. Even though you’re issued a PIN by Capital One®, we recommend you choose one you like, and will remember, when you activate your card.
  2. Choose a PIN that’s easy to remember – but not so easy that someone else could guess it (like your birthday or phone number).
  3. Keep your PIN to yourself – and only yourself.
  4. Memorize your PIN. Don’t write it down or carry it with you.
  5. Shield your PIN when you’re entering it into a chip terminal.

This is all pretty much common sense – but it’s still good to keep these things in mind whenever you’re choosing, and using, your PIN.
